Feeling aimless, hopeless, powerless or just trying to be fearless etc. suggests being without. However, to hope less, is not without hope. Allow me to explain my perspective.
I am going to use a recent example of something I was personally facing. I was fearful. Family and friends trying to motivate me would typically say, "Get out there and be fearless!". So, I told myself, "Jade, get out there and be fearless, stop this nonsense and take the bull by the horns." Then I felt my body turn warm, a sinking feeling in my gut and found my mind suddenly overwhelmed with the task of trying to be without fear.
What a feat that would be! How am I even going to accomplish such a huge task? I found myself debilitated, completely frozen, and scared. Then the coach in me started turning the wheels and I thought, "Heck, I don't even want to be fearless. Fear has not only warned me of danger but always driven and challenged me, consistently leading to growth and improvement throughout my life "
Then I thought "I may not be able or want to be fearless but, I can, at this moment - fear LESS. I can pick something I CAN fear less of and have less fear now!" I was relieved, ready to get out there and fear less.
I am power-full, you are too!
Here is my acronym for LESS:
Letting go, lets more in.
Everyone is someone.
Somewhere is better than nowhere.
Something is better than nothing.
